Before I jump into the events I want to take a moment and acknowledge the passing of Steve Dillion. The Preacher co-creator was taken from us at the age of 54 on Saturday. Thank you for all of your significant contributions to comics, Mr. Dillon.

The coming week is mostly focused on Halloween Comic-Fest on October 29. There are several signings and events related to the annual celebration of comics. Halloween Comic-Fest is similar to Free Comic Book Day. It’s an opportunity to get kids (and comic-loving adults) into shops to learn about new comics. In addition to shops handing out free comics, several shops make available packets of comics that can be distributed to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. I wish Halloween Comic-Fest existed when I was a kid because, while I loved candy, it would have been a thrill to find a funny book at the bottom of my bag.
