Comic Outpost recently celebrated 10 years in the Bay Area, but now we’ve learned the shop is in danger of closing. Comic Outpost, 2381 Ocean Avenue in San Francisco, announced on Facebook late last night that starting today there will be a massive clearance sale and shipments will be on hold for two weeks. The objective is to save the store. Pasted below Gary Buechler’s Facebook letter:
This is tough one for me to write, all due to pride. The Comic Outpost may have to come to an end. I was ready to pull the plug today, but instead a couple of impressive young people have made a good case to convince me to save it.
I weighed every option and I can no longer go into my personal funds to keep the Outpost running on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, we will not be receiving our shipments for 2 weeks. Instead, we will be having a massive clearance sale starting tomorrow.
Up to 70% off EVERYTHING.
All New Releases on the Wall will be a buck
Premium Back issues 5 bucks or under,
Toys marked down 50% and everything in the shop is game.
Yes, it’s a Save The Comic Outpost Sale.
Throught the sale purchases of $20 dollars or more you’ll receive a raffle ticket to win choice statues. (Additional raffle tickets $5)
Raffle winners will be announced on our facebook and twitter pages.
We will see what the next two weeks will bring. I apologize for the short notice, I appreciate all of you for allowing us to have an epic ten year run. Either way no regrets.
Even if you’ve never visited the Comic Outpost this would be a good time to show support for the overall Bay Area comic community. The store has certainly done its part giving back to the community and supporting fans. When former store manager Harry Moldanado lost his father and sister last month the Comic Outpost held a special sale where all of the proceeds went to Moldanado and his mother.
In addition to comics, the Comic Outpost claims the largest Doctor Who collection in the Bay Area. They’re such big Who fans that they’ll be hosting a 50th Anniversary all day TV Party on November 23. In the past they’ve screened episodes of Arrow, Game of Thrones, and others. Hopefully, the Doctor Who party won’t be the Outpost’s last TV Party.
